Importance of the practical training in legal profession emphasizes the need of placement cell. With a purpose of acting as a transparent, creditable and accountable interface between prospective employer and students, Shankarrao Chavan Law College has established the placement cell in Academic Year 2012-13. Since its foundation cell is working efficiently and trying hard to provide assistance to the students in meeting challenges of professional life.
ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN BY THE CELL
Capsule Courses: Cell initiated various capsule courses for the Students to make them ready to step into the real practical world of law. This Course is focused to provide practical hands through training that will enable the budding lawyers to successfully enter, hold & sustain themselves in this noble profession of law.
Course is divided into 5 modules which includes:
- a) Communication & Personality Development,
- b) Legal Research & Methodology,
- c) Litigation, Practical Procedures & Skills for litigation,
- d) Training for Corporate/Legal Services, and
- e) Judicial and Competitive Services.
Winter and Summer Internship Program:- The Placement Cell provides internship to the students twice in the academic year i.e. summer internship and winter internship.
Training Programs & Guest Lectures:- In an attempt to bridge the gap between theory and practice, more particularly for inculcating among our students necessary skills required in outside world this year Placement Cell organized various training programs such as corporate training program in collaboration with Adv. Shreedhar Parundekar, manager legal department Mercedes Benz, Pune. In meeting its objective of building functional knowledge and inculcating specific skills amongst students, the cell has also organized lecture series of eminent personalities.
Soft Skill Development Activities:- For the personality development of students, cell organized lectures on soft development , communication skills etc.
Final Placement:- The Cell endeavor to provide placement to the final year students in various law firms, corporate houses etc.
WORKING OF THE PLACEMENT CELL:
This year the placement cell of our college has provided internship to many of students who are interested in litigation in District Court, High Court and Supreme Court and various law firms. For the purpose of understanding problems prevailing in the society and ability of the law to tackle it successfully , many of our students are provided with internships in various NGO and various Governmental organizations.

Guest Lecturers:
- Mr. Suhas Palande, (Divisional Manager, United Indian Insurance Co Ltd.) delivered lecture on “Opportunities in Insurance and Banking Sector” on 1st August, 2017.
- Ms. Pallavi Survanshi,( Judicial Magistrate) talked on “Judicial Services” on 11th August, 2017.
- Mr. Amit Kulkarni,( legal associate -Infosys), delivered lecture on “Corporate Sector and its working” on 16th Sept., 2017.
- Mr Ajinkya Kale, (associate, Talekar & Associates Litigating firm) delivered lecture on “Legal Form and their Future in India” on 20th Jan 2017.
Memorandum of Association/Understanding (M.o.U)
SCLC signed a MOU with RDS Legal & Associates Firm for placement and internship program for 5 year on 13.7.2017.

Court Observations- for Civil & Criminal cases:
It is compulsory for the students of final year’s (i.e. 5th year BSL & 3rd year LLB) to observe one the civil and criminal case respectively under the guidance of the advocates.

SOME NOTEWORTHY ACHIEVEMENTS OF CELL ( 2016-17)
This year many students of our college got recruited as interns through the placement cell in various Corporate Law Firms and also got to work with various well established practicing lawyers in different fields of law.
Four students are presently working under the practising lawyers Adv. Bharat More and Adv. Prajakta More in family matters and criminal matters.
Six students got an opportunity to work with an eminent and a very well known lawyer, Adv P.M. Bendre in Civil Court, Pune
Students also got an opportunity to work with eminent lawyers practicing in Bombay High Court through the placement cell.
This year 4 students got recruited at a well known law firm Lex-Credence, Pune.
Students from our college also got to intern at Mercedes Benz, Pune at Brand Protection Department.

Corporate Training Program
To bridge the gap between theory and practice, for enabling our students to inculcate skills required in the corporate world for this academic year, SCLC organised Corporate Training Program. This program was conducted in collaboration with Mr. Shreedhar Parundekar, Brand Protection Manager, Mercedes Benz Ltd, Pune. It consisted of 12 sessions and in each session students were give specialized training for development of different skills and values which are essential in corporate world. On completion of this program students with outstanding performance were provided with internships in corporate fields.
